Otto

 Pendant Porcelain Lamp

Otto embodies a time trip to the past. It’s the fruit of deconstruction on porcelain technical abilities, the alliance between the artisan and building technics.

To assume the values that porcelain represents – the pureness of the matter, its lightness, beauty, clarity and smoothness -, it is important to make an unsullied object, clear, which could show not only its character, but its delicacy. Otto was totally designed as a single porcelain piece – its exterior and interior.

It is mandatory that ceramic don’t assumed only an esthetical red tape, but a continuous structural piece of beauty.

So, it became an obsession to deconstruct the ceramic process to build an object that does not only assume a function on a space, but also a strong aesthetic presence.

The goal was to design a lamp with a simple shape where its “skin” and interior were one single body, – no seen fixations nor additional elements-, something like materiality against the ephemerality of objects.

Otto is presented as a simple elegant object that can have a presence into any space. It was originally thought to serve as a “companionship” lamp. Although, it has the power to conquest different identities to each person.
